I just fired my truck up after a egr block-off, icp(oil on plug) and oil cooler replacement. I took my time to make sure that everything was kept clean. I filled the fuel filter, cycled the key a few times and the truck started within 3-4 seconds. After warming up, I show a cont/imbal code for# 4 cyl. I only get the code when the motor gets to 175'. Truck runs great, so running wise, everything is fine. My question is, would that code be for an injector (which has less than 10k on it) or a weak cylinder, also what activates that code to show up? I do not want to dig into something before I have to. Thanks in advance. Jim
I will bump this up to the top so Cheezit may possibly see it. Is this a code that you cleared and returned or left over from the start up after the EGR delete? Are you reading this with the Edge?
Typically I've only seen that code for an injector. Injector that's cracked, leaking or one time when the oil rail was tightened too much, which caused a little bit of an oil leak that led to an injector issue.
I hate to say it, but it really doesn't matter if you have 20 miles or 10k miles, things can happen to the injectors that can cause them to crap out.
Do you have any means of doing computer diagnostics? The AutoEnginuity program I know would help in determine if it's an injector or not. Or you can manually unplug it, but I just prefer to let the computer shut it off since I'm able to do that. Just don't unplug(or shut off) more then one at a time.
I have reset the code 4 times. Once the code comes on when the truck is running, it will not come off. I must turn the motor off then I can reset it. I'm getting the code on the edge. I did check the inj. plug, I will remove the plug and push it back on this am. Maxium4x4- Thanks for the bump

Reason: added info
Sounds like one of your injectors came unplug or you forgot to plug it back in. Mine did the samething after my egr delete kit plus I could tell it was running like crap. It also was the hardest one to get to all the way back behind my degas bottle.

I did not know how reliable the Edge was at reading codes, so that is why I asked where you were seeing the imbalance. For the EGR delete, since I have never personally gone through one, I assume you removed the wiring harness. Seems to be the likely place to start since it just showed up.

Edge really isn't all that bad at reading codes. I would actually say it's better then the X3 unit that I had for reading codes(this was a friend that had the edge though, I never did, he used to work for Bean before he moved to his new shop).
I never was really all that impress with SCT code reading abilities, hopefully, they improved them with the TSX.
I for just use the EDGE for monitoring. When I changed the ficm, I never reloaded the stock program before having a new flash. I only used it for towing and never noticed a change, now reading about the trainy problem associated with particular programers, I'm fine with no tunes. I did unplug #4 and there was a very noticable miss while unplugged. After the wiggling and jiggling, I'll do a short road trip and see what happens. On the EGR, I just did the block-off plugs and left the EGR in the manifold, plugged in. Thanks Jim
Took the truck for butt kickin on I-75. Still kicks the code when it gets around 175'. I was sitting at a traffic light when it popped up, no change in idle, stiil ran smooth. I am going to Ford for seals and flip 4-6 injectors to track down injector, harness problem or something else. For the hour job that it will be, I hate to throw an injector in for no reason. I'll post results. Thanks, Jim
