hey guys i have a question about my factory tach. i swaped my 1991 efi for a 1974 carburated motor all my guages work except for my tach. i am running a computer to run my factory in tank fuel pump. i am wondering if i can hard wire my factory tach to make it work??
The tach signal comes from the Neg. side of the coil. No 'puter required.
i dont have the factory tach connected to my coil. so if i tap into the negitive wire on the back of my tach and run a wire to the neg on the coil do you think it will work?
I think that is what rla2005 said in his post.
You do not need a computer for the fuel pumps either, just an oil pressure switch and a bypass from the stater relay around the oil Pressure switch. The other side of the oil pressure switch is connected through a fuse to the red wire that was on the fuel pump relay from the EEC Power relay.
Use power from them to operate the fuel pump relay (where the red wire was) and tie the other end of the coil to ground (where the LT Blue wire with an orange stripe was).

Minor correction: Your tach should have a Negative lead that goes to ground. The Positive lead goes to switched +12VDC. There should also be a TACH lead, this is the one that goes to the Negative side of the ignition coil. There may be one more lead going to the tach this usually goes to the instrument panel lighting for bright/dimming purposes
