It is possible that the Ip is out, but it would be an extremely big coincedence that it went out when it ran out of fuel.
We know for sure that it is going to take a new starter and cables, I would hold off on the IP until your friend gets the starting system up to snuff.
OK My brain is starting to work. lol You probably have checked this but have you made sure The Fuel selonoid on the Ip is getting voltage when you apply voltage you will hear an audible click. I should have mentioned and eliminated this first.
he is in the process now of replacing the cables with 600volt welding lead around 4-6guage wire now and doing a starter as well...it is a standard but were he is at lot of snow and muck and pull strarting isnt a great option right now...we never thought to check voltage at the ip...what should it read out?....when the key it on you have the loud click from the glowplug relay but if the ip puts out a low click you cldnt hear it ill have him test for voltage at the ip...thanks!
ok new devolpments.....talked to my buddy and told himabout the voltage on the ip said he changed all cables and a starter solinoid and itl turn over now so no starter needed but he's going through and changin glow plugs and started with #2 cylinder on front driver side and said he pulled it out and after the threads was left with a nub on glowplug as in the heating part of it has broke off so thats were we are at now...not sounding good sofar..anymore ideas or comments??...thanks so much for everything already!!!
hes not sure if he broke it off or it broke off he thinks it might be in the hole for the glowplug but havent heard from him yet.....which one is the correct wire on top of the injectiion pump there is 2 wires both on driver side 1 tward the back of the truck and 1 tward the front..thanks again!
No resetting it it either works or it doesn't if it doesn't click when you touch it with 12 volts it isn't working. Caution if you remove the top and don,t get it back on exactly right it will cause a runaway with very possible motor damage.
so run a 12v source to ip pump listen for a click if no click bad ip?.....or make sure it has 12v to it with attached wires and if no voltage bad ip or bad something else?
