OT lost 2 best friends in 1 week
I know there are others on here who have lost their best friends and many posts about losing our best friends and how much they will be missed.
I just lost 2 of mine in one week, it's going to be awefully quiet around my place without them!
Keska (Roo) 4-19-1996 1-28-2010 On left in picture (died in her sleep of old age)
Mykia (Toad) 5-18-1999 2-04-2010 On the right in picture (someone left gate open last night and she got hit by a car)
Picture is from Oct 2002 my daughter was 3 weeks old in picture, she's having a hard time with the doggies being gone!
Kyra the new puppy (shes 16 months now) is lonely too.

Man Josh, that's terrible. Loosing one is bad, but two at the same time would be hard to deal with. My sympathies. I know that when my girl goes I'll be a wreck.
As you know, Sandy does dog rescue and we hear stories like yours all the time from folks who've lost a pet and are coming to adopt another. When you're ready, I hope you consider taking in a rescue. There are so many animals in shelters that it's a shame they can't all be saved. Sandy frequently gets photos of dogs sleeping on a bed or playing with kids, when only a few months earlier they were on death row. Stu

Sorry to hear this, Josh! It's tough, I know. Like Dick, my dog is showing its gray, and can't fathom the thought without him. +1 to what Stu said, I did that back in 1994, and it was very rewarding.
My uncle says, "Spending time in the woods with a hunting dog, you try yer darndest not to let him down." Of course that can be said about any dog.

We love our kids(pets) and know what you are going through.
Both our old dogs died a few yrs ago of 16 and 17 yrsold.
We now have 3 more dogs and 3 cats. We speak more about them than most do about their kids.
Dogs and trucks go hand in hand. I love walking my dogs around at car shows.....Both in one place that I love. DOGS and Trucks.

Thanks guys, I sure do miss them.
I retreived multiple evidence of the neighbor kids being in our back yard, last year a Youth company bought the house and turned it into a group home for troubled or other? foster care etc kids. I have already talked to one of the counselors and one home parent.
We were leary about the situation when we heard about it. and so far in the course of about 1 year they have flooded our basement (18K in damage which they only paid about 1/2 of and we had to threaten suit just to get that much), and now this!
locks going on the gate tomorrow. I just hope they don't start housing 17-18 yr old deviants.
Don't get me wrong I think some kids need help and or fostor care programs but it's really concerning when you could possibly have sexual deviants litereally feet away from your daughters window!
I would make such a bold statement that a large percentage of the problems with these kids is not the kids themselves but their parents!!!
blah blah blah, ok. going to go make dinner for the kids now.

Wow, that is truly a bummer, I'm very sorry to hear it.
Like others here I am facing the enevitable. We have three dogs, 2 German Shepards and a mutt. The older Shepard is 12 years old and showing it. A typical Shepard, her hips are bad, right before X-mas she had an incident, I thought she had a stroke, her eyes were real jerky, her head was tilted and she couldn't hardly stand up or walk. We took her to the vet fully expecting to have to put her to sleep (man that was a tough trip) It turns out she has "Dizzy old dog disease". Basically a seperation in the lining of her inner ear. The vet said she had a wicked case of the "bed spins" and she would probably get better. She is no longer dizzy and her eyes aren't jerky but her head has remaind tilted to the side. She seems happy and not in pain so as long as she does so then we will keep babying her. I know the day is coming though.......and its going to be tough.
Enjoy your memories, some day, when the time is right, another good dog will find you
