Check Engine Light question
Had a mechanic tell me that these go off when somethings not right, but if nothing further is detect after several cycles of startup, warmup to temp and back to cald, they will reset themselves. Any truth to this rumor? Mine goes off once in awhile if the engine is under load before warmed up to operating temp when outside temp is below 20.

From what I've read here and experienced with a different vehicle, the codes are logged and can be retrieved even though the light resets. Although some readers are not able to retrieve stored codes from the PSD's. AE seems to be the reader of choice. Others with more knowledge will jump in and confirm or correct.
