I need some advice, I have a 2001 F250 4x4 v-10 with 175,000 miles. Speedometer not working ford codes are P0500 vehicle speed sensor malfunction, P1464 Ac demand out of range and P1502 vss intermittant. Replaced the vss on the rear diff and the sensor on the transfer case adaptor. Checked the wires from the vss(rear diff) to wiring harness under hood with a meter, that is ok. I will check the wires on the transfer case adaptor. But what does the sensor on top of the tranny do? the radio also makes a pop sound when I turn the truck on, is that a wiring fault sign, could that cause the speedo not to work, or is the instrument cluster bad. Been reading a lot on the site, bad sensors, bad instrument cluster, bad wiring any ideas? just trying to figure this out, but I know it could be many things, any help is greatly appreciated, thanks mike
A friend's wife had some goofy electrical problems and popping of her radio on her Mustang Convertible, it turned out that her window was leaking and the GEM was getting soaked, might want to check the GEM module for moisture.
All of my gauges work normal except the speedo, it does not work at all but the speedo did work for about 15 miles about 3 weeks ago, Where is the GEM is it the fuse box in the engine compartment? that could be the problem, my brother in law put in a sirius radio and he put the wiring in the windshield gasket on the outside. should have kept my 2006 and sold this one, but anyway thanks for the insight, I will check the GEM when I get home in the morning.
