90k recommended maintenance

Doing the recommended 90k maintenance this weekend, truck is an 05 with 93k miles, also doing the rear axle fluid change, coolant flush, and installing diesel site coolant filter, any tips or other recommendations would be great.

You should be on the third tranny fluid and filter (extrenal) change.

I have heard that this is about the point at which the brake pads wear out, the ball joints begin to fail, and the serpentine belt is worn out.

Many say that you should do your second brake fluid flush also, but I am at 60k and haven't done one yet - I guess I am a slacker!

Edit -

Oh yeah, I pull the batteries and give them a charge and then load test them at least once a year.

That is just the term for the "single belt" design for driving the accessories (alternator, powersteering, etc).

Dont mean to hijack the thread but my truck has approx 63K miles on it and I bought it used with approx 50K miles. Since Ive owned the truck the only maintenance I have done is oil changes and fuel filters.

Is there any sort of preventative maintenance that you guys recommend I should be doing in the near future?

Grease your ball joints, O yea there's no fittings, then pray that they were greased at the factory to begin with.

Check to make sure your transfer case relay box was mounted right side up, mine was upside down from the factory and water getting in caused relays to go bad.

Check to make sure the the AC return line is NOT rubbing on the glow plug controller fins (on front right valve cover). Mine was rubbing , caused leak in AC hose at 95K miles, new redesigned hose was released to solve problem (now about 2" between glow plug controller and hose).

If it hasn't been done already, I would add, clean the EGR valve. Last year at 89K miles when it was -34 F the turbo started doing some strange stuff until it warmed up, then after that it settled down. Cleaned the EGR and problem went away.

I have followed the owners manual for recommended service intervals, other then oil changes at 5K miles and the EGR cleaning and coolant flush which appears to need attention sooner (60k). Now have 105K on the clock and things seem to be in good shape. But then again the little woman drives it like she stole it.
