Tire Size, Aftermarket Wheels and TPMS

I'm in the process of purchasing 2011 SD with 18" wheels. I would like to keep the 18" to run my dedicated winter tires and then buy a set of aftermarket wheels and tires the rest of the year. These wheels/tires will be taller than my winters and have their own set of TPMS sensors. So then I have two questions:

1) Does Ford provide a way for the owner to adjust tire height in the computer?

2) Can I use aftermarket TPMS sensors and sync them to the computer without going to the dealer?

Thanks,

Bruce

Thumbs up (W/PICS) Trading a Loaded Gutless F150 FX4 for a 2011 F350 XL 6.2

I am going to be ordering a 2011 F350 XL SRW 4x4 Supercab Shortbox, 6.2 Gas, 4.3 Electronic Locking axle ratio, Heavy Service Front Suspension package.

I am going to be trading in my loaded 2010 F-150 FX4 Crewcab, I will gladly take a hit financially to actually have a truck that has some power, my soon to be ex wife and I used the F150 for the family vehicle. She now has a new car i bought her so I can trade in the truck for what I really wanted, a base model 1 ton. I am so glad it worked out that I am getting a 2011 with the 6.2, becuase the 5.4 is gutless. And I hope the 6.2 has some noticable power. I am very excited to get my truck, unfortunatly I have to wait 60-90 days. Has anyone waited for a truck longer than 90 days?

And can someone please tell me how the 6.2 is, does it pull well, passing power, etc...

Last question, the 10,000 GVWR package I am assuming is for commercial use, or hauling regulations, would this be a good option to have for a personal use truck,or would it be better off to just not get that option?

Thanks everyone

attached are pics of my 94 F-150 with a (wicked 500hp circle track motor) and my 2010 F-150 (possibly going from a 500hp circle track motor to a stock 5.4 might be the reason it seems gutless)

Welcome to FTE! There's a ton of info down in the 6.2 forum that'll answer any of your questions and free you from any doubt. 6.2L Boss - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

Nobody's really complained about any lack of power with the new motor, and with the 4.30's, I think you'll do alright.

As for wait times, there's a thread in the 6.7 forum about folks that have ordered and how long it took. I ordered on 10/12 (truck details in sig), hoping to get it by Christmas.

I assume you're talking about protecting the top edge of the gate and not the inside where the handle is mounted. I have not seen an aftermarket protector for the top edge, however, I have removed the inside tailgate protector and step handle to investigate the possibility of deleting both. I found that the step handle and its hinge mounts can easily be removed (need torx tools). Once both are removed you're left with a tailgate with a bunch of holes which you would not want to leave exposed. I plan to cut a piece of aluminum to cover the entire surface and all holes. Once in place I will use a rubber tailgate mat for cushion and traction. It could also be protected with any bedliner material. The step remains fully functional. I'm doing this to get a low profile (normal) tailgate so I don't have to use a spacer on my IFW SR10 Bedslide.

There's a thread either in the 6.2 or 6.7 forum that has the part number(s) for the plate that replaces the tailgate handle. Search down there for it if you don't want to fab up your own piece.

Found it, check this post: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ml#post9488292

Rear Tailgate Top Protection Cover

I'm looking for a top tail gate cover that will protect the plastic cover when the tail gate is closed and I have something resting on top of it (like wood or a canoe, etc. I have the 2011 F250 SD with the step and can't find a cover that comes in the three pieces you would need to still use the step. Should I just buy the one piece cover and cut it? Will that work? Any recommendations on what cover I just get?

Thanks 2000silverbullet for the tip on the tailgate cover. I'm sure this will be more seamless than fabricating my own.

I'm pretty sure they all will fit. I had an 05 which I had the box liner cut to fit my 5th wheel hitch. It fit exactly into my 2011.

My New 2011 Ford F350 Crew Cab King ranch Dually - Polaris RZR Forum - RZR Forums.net

This fellow had nothing but problems, so sold it and got another brand!

And I was considering the 2011 F 250 or F350, w/the new Ford Diesel

So go buy another brand. Nobody here cares.

It's also good to know that the other makes never have problems with their new trucks. Thanks for the heads up.

[quote=IB Adrian;8466765]Here is a compiled resource of all 2011 Superduty info./quote]

Adrian,
I know that I am asking this question kinda late in the year, but I did not know until recently if I was going to be able to buy a 2011 until now or not. Got to drive a 2011 King Ranch F250 wow what a truck. Drove both highway/city for 25 miles, reset the fuel milage gage before pulling out and it was at 18.1 and still climbing in town.
Questions:
1) Instead of Ford making a new color scheam-Can Ford offer for the Harley Edition the ability to order any of the past years colors? I want the 2011/12 in the Harley Black/Orange color.
2) How come LED lights are not used more in interior, marker lights, tail lights, for lower amp draw, brightness, longevity?
3)

Sarge
