Hi Everyone...
New to the site and need some tech assistance. I have an Oil Leak at the Rear Main (assuming) and am curious if someone can point me to an old thread for some help.
Welcome to FTE , most likely the leak is coming from the top & leaking down at the rear (looks like rear main) , you will need to get the engine clean & dry first . Most will say not to use a pressure washer , just simple green or equivalent, & a garden hose
If it is a stick shift it's a lot more likely that the clutch cover rubbed through the oil pan. If you have the 5 speed take it off and look at the back of the pan. It will only leak while running but you will see two silver lines where it rubbed through.
Use gray rtv from Ford to patch it and let it dry overnight before running it. Otherwise you have to pull the engine to replace it.
That sucks for you. It's probably the turbo then. It's the next most common thing. I've never had to do a rear seal on one of these yet unless it was part of an overhaul.
If you can get a strong flashlight then look at the back end of the high pressure oil pump also. Its right in front of the fuel filter. Look at it running and see if the oil is pouring out the back of it.
