So i bough a PHP Phoenix from a fell FTE member papadelogan SP??? anyway supposed to be stock whisper two tow modes 100 daily and 140. got the chip in monday and installed...did everything correct i think...removed the computer cleaned the contacts 99% sure there is no silicone left on the contacts....modified the box for the chip and installed....and then went test drive it and she feels bone stock still on all 6 settings...so i took it out recleaned and noticed a kink in the cable slit it open and all the wires looked ok so check for continuity at the switch to the bottom where it connects all the wires check out good. Do all the wires stand for different setting? except black? anyway to test if the switch is changing stuff internally? I called php and they said the chip is compatible with my truck...i'm getting grumpy with my 12.2 mpg lol i want the chip to work...i sold my evolution to get php since its supposed to be so much better but starting to regret it....please help
I'd say Cody's got you covered. Or you could always contact PHP. I know Bill and Corey will help you even though you didn't purchase the chip from them. Let us know
If what cody said doesnt work, I would clean the contacts again and rub them down with cleaner real well and if that doesnt get it working then I would call PHP, I hear that they have great customer service
fixing to go try that....called PhP and they said its probably the switch in some way but i have to send it in and they would check it over....i'll let ya'll know if turning it all the way back doesn't fix it...thanks
well it works!!!! you guys were right about the turning the switch all the way back!!! thank god.....only gripe now is the overhead computer still only showing 14 mpg at best....thinking i should send it in and get an economy setting on it all i have is 100 hp daily and 140. Am i going to see a bigger increase in mpg by having an economy setting? thanks for all your guys' help in getting it fixed!
For figuring out your MPG, dont rely on the overhead console. They arent 100 percent accurate at best, and when you install a chip I believe they get even more out of whack.
Best is to stand at the pump for 15 minutes, fill the tank right full, drive, then when your tank is low, fill it up to the top again, then calculate mileage.
You might consider getting a tow tune or two if you do any towing. I don't know what tunes Bill has, but I would think he has some econo tunes. Glad you got it going.
You need to hand-calculate -- forget about that overhead lie-O-meter. And to get accurate hand calculations, you need to fill your tank the same way every time. Without the Harpoon mod (cutting off the fill & vent tubes inside the tank), it takes a LOOONG time to fill to the neck. Like 10+ minutes to get that last 5 gallons in.
