does anyone know what year ford made it's 1st factory 4x4

First factory 4x4 from ford was the 1959 model year, All others before were Marmon-Herrington or NAPCO conversions. 1959 F250 long bed style sides 4x4s are down right beautiful......

shoot... i was close, i know some guy in western MN sellin a 1960 f250 4x4 with a built 427 sohc cid. over 650 horse

The 427 SOHC was introduced in 1964, designed to compete with the new Chrysler 426 Hemi in NASCAR.
However, not one was ever used for this purpose as Chrysler threatened to pull all their cars from NASCAR if Ford was allowed to use this engine.
The 427 SOHC was available at the parts counter, but...AFAIK, was never factory installed in any production cars, as there is no VIN engine code for this engine.
