Interesting one

Was driving today, climbing a hill on I-80 in NJ. Not a steep hill but enough to cause semi's to use flashers. I merged into traffic and immediately went to overtake a slow moving semi. I didnt mash the throttle just gave her a push to accelerate. she didnt up shift just increased RPM's and when I got to a certain I felt what I can describe as a miss.....felt like a slip in the gear box. in laymans terms felt more like what you would feel if you spun the tires for a secons on a patch of ice...If you know what I mean.

Now the truck drove totally normal the next ten miles to work, I tried mash'n it at some lights, and accelerating and decelerating.

At work I checked trans fluid and it was good, on my way home I climbed a hill getting on to I-80 again and same thing feels like a slip in fourth when I am accelerating.....very strange.....should I take it to a tranny shop I pass one every day.

Sounds like you have a trans problem.

When was the last time you changed the trans. fluid and filter.. Might pull the filter and see if it has caught any metal or fiber fragements..

Mine kind of did the same thing with the ATS trans when I would accelerate to get on the freeway but I think it was second to third. There ended up being a ton of shavings in the pan. I junked that ATS after the third time in the shop and a fresh rebuild!

I hope you fix is alot simpler...

Hopefully you have been doing fluid changes or flushes every 30k and changing the external filter. It is important.

It could just be that you would benefit from the most recent calibration. There was a TSB out on that IIRC.

Did the Tow/Haul light ever flash?
