need some help / input
2 weeks ago i became the proud owner of a 2002 f350 crewcab 7.3
( stock with 185000 miles first thing i did when it came home was all fluids and filters ) well now im thinking of up grades and after reading dozens of threads on here i think i know what to do
first switch air filter too napa 6637 filter
second straight pipe stock exhaust ( will this be equale to 4 in )
third guages egt,boost,trans is this correct
fourth is chip this is whats killing me i went to jodys site and have no idea what i need or want for tunes.
this is my dailly driver and i also use it for hauling my gooseneck about 15000 pounds maybe 100 miles a week but its very steep grades where i live in western wisconsin
my wife thinks this is just a midlife crises / please help

Good on all. Here's my $0.02... Stock exhaust is 3 or 3.5" non-mandrel bent, so just straight piping is NOT the same a 4" mandrel bent system. It will make a big difference, though. Since you tow heavy, you'll need a heavy tow tune, a non-tow daily-drive tune, and maybe some kind of fun like a race or extreme tune for that mid-life crisis. Then you probably want stock & no-start as well. That's three custom tunes plus two freebies. Other than that, let your wallet be your guide.
I would suggest upgraded trans cooling and a shift kit of some kind as well. Pulling that heavy, your trans will be stressed out. Do you know if the trans has been replaced previously? That's *A LOT* of miles, but if it wasn't ragged on, fluid changes kept up with, and better yet, not used like you're about to (pulling really heavy), then you might get a lot more miles out of it. Just don't be surprised if it goes.
