I have an 86 Ford 1 ton van with 9.50 X 16.5 tires on it. I am thinking it would be good to switch it over to 16" wheels so tires are easier to find for it. My questions is, what size 16" tire would be about the same OD as the 9.50 X 16.5's that are on there now? Thanks
One more thing to check, before jumping . I checked on changing out 16.5 rims for 16" because of tire selection years ago. This may/may not apply to your case.
Check the rim clearance at the front brake calipers, around the top bolt area next to the rim. That may be too close for 16's. The rears are probably still drums so there is plenty of clearance back there. My experience was on a van, but the trucks were only different in that the caliper is to the rear of the spindle, on the van, the caliper was mounted in front of the spindle. LOL
