It is possible to install an automatic but requires a lot of work. First of all, I would not recommend to install and overdrive, as they are problems trans, he would have to install a trans cooler, change the steering colum and install of the linkage, and replace the driveshaft for the automatic as they are different then the standard. He would also have to add the vacuum line for the modulator, replace the carburator for and automatic and install the kick down linkage.
