fog lights

ok so i've looked around trying to find a picture of fog lights on these trucks. but all i can find it ones that go on top of the bumper and the ones that are in the bumper valance. i just bought some from my local crap auto and was gonna put them under the bumper but i don't have a valance that takes them (the 91 in my sig) I was gonna make a small spacer and just have them hanging but didn't know how far to space them i was wondering if yalls had pictures of some so i could make up my mind.

thanks sorry for the long post

You don't have to have the valance for fog light to have them under the bumper. Just measure and drill two holes. I think it would look best if it was centered under each side of the grille.

I really like how I did mine. Its too bad you don't have the option for the bumper with the holes in it that 92-96 had from the EB and F250 F350 trucks. I mounted my lights in those holes.

Anyway, Since you do not have the lower valance I would not mount them under the bumper. That will look cheesy, if you don't have the factory valance.

Find a nice set of normal looking rectangle ones and mount them on top of the bumper. That what we did on our 85 F150. It is the best look on 80-91 trucks.

I recommend installing a relay with them, if the kit does not provide one. I would also recommend hooking them up as stand alone so you can use them whenever you want and not just with the low or high beams.

I like Hella and KC and Bosch, but I think something like this is probably more along the lines of what your looking for. They actually work quite well. We had these made by Blazer on our 85. It is the exact same light as the Navigator brand.

This is exactly how I had them mounted on our 85. Its not my truck though. I think it looks perfect.

Ok the second ebay link are the ones i have. i never did like them sitting on top of the bumper to me it doesn't really make sense to have em high and point em low might as well put down low. their really only gonna be so i can adjust my headlights a little farther up (they point to the ground because of HD leafs in the back) and when i do i don't want to lose light in between. Thanks for the picture it help on how far apart to space them tho. it didn't come with a relay just a fuse. im having my friend wire it up for me cause i don't feel real comfortable doing it myself, and had the same idea of having them controlled separately.

Thanks
Kyle

The reason I don't like them low under the bumper, is that they are prone to getting broken. When I had them mounted on top of the bumper, they worked great. I would also recommend not using the cheapo plastic switch that comes with them. Get a metal one from the hardware store and it should last much longer.

agree 100% about position. my friend had a 91 explorer that he did that to. I don't think those lights made it 6 weeks. He pulled a little to close to a snow bank and they were gone. If you don't have snow in your area, the odds are it would be a Honda.

If i had to install a switch in my cab thought it would be cool to take my fuel selector switch from my dual tank rig and installing it in my single tank rig, then everything would still look stock.

im not so much worried that they'll break off. i back in everywhere so that doesn't bother me much i was gonna put the switch in the extra panel next to the od button make it look factory and had thoughts of putting a different switch it just doesn't look right.

Thanks
Kyle

I've been down this road a few times, and will never mount aux lights where they are the are the first point of impact when going over any kind of terrain. Have lost them to snow banks left across the road when someone plowed their driveway (they look softer then the are), curbs (driving something that sits much lower than a pickup), and what I'll call a large speed bump (you know, those bulldozed mounds meant to keep you out of were you wanna go) in a lifted truck ..

I go with driving lights, as I figure ya gotta go slow in fog anyway, you never know if the other guy doesn't have them (ie: you don't see him and he can't see) ..

I actually aim my high beam quite low (low enough so I usually don't get flashed), and my low beams cover the zone that fogs do .. this way when I am moving at speeds where typical (any stock) head lights do you no good I have have my driving lights ..

(front mounted fogs and driving lights is just tacky )

I don't think front mounted fog/driving lights look tacky. I put them on all my vehicles.

TexasGuy001,

Which lights are in your 95 bumper? They look great and I want to do the same thing. Any tips on mounting/wiring?
