Does anyone have an idea way to check for a crack in the intake manifold? I have no accessibility to dyes or hitech machinery. The manifold is off the engine. Thanks. Jesse
Cover the port holes with duct tape or that wide clear packing tape. Then fill up the manifold with water and check for leaks. Afterwards, flush it with the hottest water you can get and bake it out in the oven to make sure it is good and dry. You don't want any rust in there.
I haven't tried it, but it seems the easiest low tech way to check for leaks.
Otherwise, you're looking having a machine shop magnaflux it (if it's a cast iron manifold).
