Jola boys,
My '68 F100, aka. the green beast, has over 200,000 and she's sagging a little on the drivers side. This is a stock F100 with 240 I6, 4-speed farm-style manual tranny, a heater and a radio. Only thing fancy on her is the power steering. Anybody got any advice, do's or don'ts, on replacing the springs all the way around? No lifting or lowering desired. Just need good tips on stock front and rear spring replacements, ie. who has the best, prices, etc. Would appreciate any replies. email is tmcalavy@llano.net
I just got done replacing the front coil springs on my 76 F100 and plan on doing the rear leafs soon. I found that most of the autoparts places buy from a local spring company. So I just called them up and they shipped them to me at half the store price. Not a bad deal, since they know exactly what you are talking about and can build them right there, to your specs. Just look in the yellow pages under springs. I had to look in a larger city about 60 miles away from me, but jeez, they ate the shipping charges!
Hey CW,
Don't have any goils down here, just gals...but thanks for the replies. BTW John, we aint heat stressed yet...only been up to 100 lately, it's just the tequila and jalapenos makes us seem that away. Later gators. TWM
Hello From Oklahoma,
I just replaced the front coil springs on my 65.
The right side was about 3/4" lower than the driver side. The coil spring dimenion loaded is
11.5" and mine was 10".
You may have a combination of weak springs on one side. Even after I replaced both front coil springs, the right side is still down about 1/2".
I have just recently ordered a new set of rear leaf springs.
I was really shocked at the low price I was quoted. What do you think about under $140.00 per side? Depending on where you live.
Call this number and talk to Michael Wagenstein at (800) 585-5117, tell him the guy from Southeastern Oklahoma referred
you. dane@oio.net
Good Luck
