ok, ive asked about this before and youve all been helpful =] but its been too clod to do much about my prob.. i ran the codes and it said it needed an o2 sensor.. so i replaced it and its still running rich, no vaccuum leaks either, its a 351 with 180k on it
does it warm up plenty prior to you going places? has the tstat ever been changed to your knowledge? how about the exhaust, is the Y pipe stock or aftermarket? what brand o2 sensor did you buy? when you pulled codes did you make sure that the vehicle was to operating tempurature.
this could be way off, but a few weeks ago i posted a question about a"high altittude" option that i have on my bronco, shortly afterward i asked a ford tech buddy of mine about it running rich and mentioned the High alt option. he told me that the option consists of a different air to fuel mixture and could be the cause of it running rich??
i dont know if hes right or not but it did make sense i guess.
when was the last time you had a tune up? new copper motorcraft/autolite plugs, cap/rotor and plug wires. also whats your timing set at. you might also turn the key to the on position and listen for the pump to prime. then go pull the vacum line off of your fuel pressure regulator. if gas comes out that is probably your issue and would need changed. you might also stick a pressure gauge to make sure you fuel pressure is correct.
