390 or not?

i got a free motor. empty block, only has a crankshaft.
and a set of heads. the heads are d2teaa . heads and block have been machined. look like new. minus the rust. im not sure if its a 390 though.

the casting number is c7me-a. stamped 352 in a few spots. and it has a 3U crank. i measured the bore and it is just 1 line over 4 inches. does that make it 4.05? any input would be great. i would love to use this motor.

trying to upload the pics now

Well, a 3U shows up as a 3.78 stroke crank, and there were no 4 x 3.78 stock FE motors, so it looks like it's a 390. The "one line over"--which line?

1/16th = .062, a hair over the .050 you are looking for for a 4.050 390 bore.

3U crank, it's a 390 (if the bore's 4.05)

1mm = 0.039 370 078 74 inch, a hair under the magic .050.

Your ruler would not mix inches and mm. So if it is graduated in inches for the numbers on it, the smaller graduations are probably 16ths.

4" = 101.6mm, so you're not going to find a "4" anywhere on a mm ruler when measuring this bore.

The "352" appears on most FE blocks as that's how they started out way back. All FEs appear pretty much the same from the angles in you pics.

If the 1 line over equates to an 1/8th of an inch over 4" you scored a 406, 410 or 428 block, Good for you!

410 = 4.05 block. It's hard to keep all those dimensions straight.
