New Spartan Update

Well, had a fellow forum member who also happens to be a diesel tech here in Mi install my Spartan kit this weekend. Also installed the AFE intake. All in all took about two hours, would have been faster but some bolts didnt want to come off and had to get the torch out.
Started with the 250 tune, man what a difference. Nice black smoke and plenty of go. Really makes driving these big trucks a lot of fun. I tried the 275 tune the past few days and holy cow that tune can go. Got on the throttle a little hard coming out of a corner today and ended up sideways!!! My BFG AT's dont pick up much traction on the dry pavement. . Went down to the 210 tune this afternoon and dont care for it much. After driving the 250 and 275 it seems to be lacking something. Decided on the 250 for now as a daily driver.
All in all what a great experience with Spartan. I know they unit is pricey but to me it worth it. Ill continue to post updates as I drive and put some miles on it.

Let us know what improvements you see in MPG. Hand calculated or the lie-o-meter.

Just stared a fresh tank Sunday. Got a 100mi so far and am at 1/4 tank used. The lie-o-meter says 16.5. Ive been driving really hard and its a "lie-o-meter." Next time I fill up Ill hand calc the last tank and let you know. With the 275 tune and easy driving I can get the dash to hit 18+ (for what its worth)
Ill be curious what the true results are. If I can get 15-16 real mpg Ill be very happy.

Just turn off your lie-o-meter because it is completely inaccurate now. Unless there has been an update I havent heard about, just ignore it completely. Im sure you will see an increase but please share real data with us.

I have read that a lot of people use the 210 to tow with and the 250/275 as their driver. I think they just added a 210 towing specific tune as well. I think?

Caprang is right, don't even pay attention to the lie-o-meter because it will not be accurate for you again. I made the same mistake when I first modded my truck and I threw out some garbage data that was not accurate. Please only post the hand calculated #'s to be sure that everyone here gets real world data. And you have to remember that you are only going to see an improvement if you drive it nicely. It'll probably take you at least 2 months of "fun" before you can drive for an entire tank without mashing the throttle through the floor boards. I've had mine for a year a half and I still have problems controlling the throttle, haha.

On a side note you are right again about the 210 towing tune they released. I have not used it yet but it does come with the standard package of strategy tunes.

Like every one saying you are going to have to much fun with spartan tunes that fuel economy is the last thing you are thinking about it is where you are going to get another set of tires.

I have the dpf and cat delete along with the afe intake. As far as a dealer installing and warranty, I wouldnt trust it. I had my equipment installed at a dealership by a friend who is a diesel tech there, however it was in the "off hours" He told me if I needed warranty work that was not a result of my tuner and delete he would cover it, no need to take it back to stock. To be honest if I had an issue caused my the tuner and delete I wouldnt put back to stock and take it in. I think that is dishonest. When I decided to tune my truck I knew the risk and benefits. To me I ll take the performance upgrade and chance the warranty work. To blow your engine on the 310 tune and then put it back to stock and play dumb at the dealer is wrong. I could care less if people do it Im not judging anyone, I just wouldnt personally. So take it for what its worth. These are different trucks when you tune them and they are a hell of a lot of fun to drive.

Fuel Milage update

So just did my first hand calculated milage today, came out to 13.4mpg. Couple of notes I have larger tires than stock only about 1inch but still makes a difference, I did not recalculate my actual distance traveled only used my odometer. So that 13.4 might be closer to 14. Second Ive been driving like a maniac. Ive only had the tuner for about a week and have been driving like
Im gonna be late
So all in all if I can get 14 driving all city miles and driving like madman Im sure 16-17 is possible.
