I would be speechless if I was the owner, wait 2 years for your new car and then on the day of delivery get a call saying that your car has fallen off the truck. Ugh, I feel sick lol.
I think the reason they didn't use straps is because they just had it on that hydraulic ramp before loading it--they would strap it once it was in the semi trailer. They probably never use straps when loading that way, just the e-brake and leave it in gear or park.
"Chuckle worthy video" -- some guy is probably out of work and some pretty nice machinery is severely damaged -- awfully funny.
I don't know about the repairs, but I doubt that spares are easy to come by. Also, you'd have to convince the owner that it was still stable at 186 mph ( Ferrari's claimed top end for this car).
But the story does fit right into that other thread " You know it's going to be a bad day when...."
Only the locals around here will understand this but maybe the truck driver overheard one of Boch's commercials...
"I'm Ernie Boch, Jr.....come on down".
I'm with Ford2go on this - nothing really funny about it. Someone is going to eat the cost of this vehicle. The driver is probably unemployed, his employer will probably go under because they can't afford insurance anymore and some rich a-hole in Florida has to drive his old Ferrari for another two years. Nobody wins here.
Ray...generally commission is a percentage of gross profit...but...most exotic stores will generally pay a percentage up to a maximum...usually a gee whizzer. The thinking is that the salesperson really isn't driving the sale...the vehicle is.
As far as someone losing his/her job...it's probably well deserved. The car will be paid for by insurance...and...insurance on car dealerships and carriers is extremely expensive!!! Now...the question is...who's insurance pays for it??? Ernie Jr. does own a fleet of car carriers...I'm not sure if he has any enclosed carriers.
Don't feel sorry for Ernie Boch Jr...he inherited the vast majority of what he has...he does a good job spending daddy's money!!!
Well I'm sure he won't have to wait another 2yrs, he'll probably get the next one off the line. It's also only 2yrs if you order one brand new, custom built. Ferrari only makes so many per year so there's a wait list. Otherwise you can buy one from a dealer floor the day you walk in.
Usually if your buying a car like that you really want it so he might go with another dealer but either way I bet he'll still buy one.
I'm sure it was an honest mistake but if I was handeling a car like that I'd make dang sure the brake was on, in gear and had chalks behind the wheels.
BTW the top end is 196 not 186 haha, those F430s are my favorite cars haha
