Dash wiring on 74F250

Hi! I am doing a complete resto on my 74 F250 currently I am installing a Ron Francis street rod wiring harness. In order to reuse the original dash, I cut the 18 pin connector from the original wiring harness, one of the wires from this connector is green with writing on it that says "resistor do not cut or splice" it feeds power to the fuel, oil and temp gauges in the dash. Does anyone know of a source for this resistor wire? How long does it have to be for the gauges to operate properly? Is there any way I can replace it with a resistor? What size?
My other question concerns the alt gauge on the same dash it obviously can't carry the load of my 100 amp alt. The original wiring diagram shows it wired into the voltage regulator. I can't do that now as I am using an alternator with an internal voltage regulator.

Jeff, have you thought to consult Ron Francis on this. The made the harness and should be aware of the problem, and have a work around for you.
