Does anyone know of a problem with 351M/400 lower end lubrication. I read an article saying that these engines had an inherent problem of crank bearings not recieving enough oil. The article went on to recommend installing a Moroso restrictor kit which basically restricts the flow of oil to the cam thus giving the crank an 25% increase in available oil??? What do you think? Any know of this mod or think that it is necessary???
351c had a real problem with pumping to much oil to the top of the moter and starving the bottom end. ford then came out with the 351m/400m to fix this, they did not resrict the oil form being pumped up but let it drain back to the pan faster. thas is not a real problem tell around 6500/7000 rpms anyway. for a street moter 1500/6000 rpms i don't see that it's necessary.i have a 400m that runs great with 60 psi of oil presser and it is stock with 120 thousand. good luck Dave

The 351M/400 has gotten a bad rap when it comes to oiling and most other areas. Unless your really going to spin the engine (not likely in a truck), the stock oiling system works just fine. In fact, unless your going to run a solid lifter cam, I think that you are asking for more problems by restricting flow to the top end.
