Well, i made it back in one piece! i went from rice peak to san man and back... parked at peppersause campground's.
Hey Ken, how's it going today?
lostman, did you fix the truck?
Ordered the stage 2 DIY kit today, I should have it mid-week. I'm going to have everything out and ready to rebuild them in one day and get it back together hopefully that night.
Thanks for asking!
Morning all no reason to get up early this morning so I woke up at 5:00.
oh well I guess I will run my truck into town and get the tires rotated and balanced and find out why the 2 rears leak.
Good morning everybody.Well since I'm here, let me throw this out to you all.I'm looking for a carpet kit to put in the bed,I have a Leer cap,I have googled it or Binged it,whatever it's called now, and came up empty except companies that sell the caps.Does anyone know of a place?
Thanks.
Good Morning everybody! happy saturday! Steve, why dont you try to make one yourself? they are perty basic 1x2's 2x2's and 3/4 mdf... glue, saw, staple gun, etc...
the carpentry does not have to be perfect because it all gets covered with carpet anyways.
Good Morning Arizona. Bill the nice weather as it has for the last two plus months lasted one day. We are back to cloudy, damp, depressing weather again. I will be so glad to get out of here. We are pulling up to Lovelock on the 27th until school is out in June. At least up there the sun peeks out of the clouds a few times a day. Sixty miles any direction out of Fallon you have better nicer days. I have only seen sun in the last month except a few days by leaving Fallon. But we are out of this fish bowl in a few weeks.
My tranny will be done & finished on the 26th of Feb. So I will get to tow with it to Lovelock. I'm excited about getting it done I hve wanted to do this for 3 years now.
Craig
Your fixin the tranny on the 86? take it easy with it! dont push it too hard.
Bill,
I'm having a Hays heavy duty flexplate & a Hughes Performance heavy duty towing torque converter installed along with having the tranny rebuilt for towing with a shift kit installed & the transfer case checked & if it needs anything then we will fix that also.
I'm hoping to get better towing power & maybe a little better mileage. The tranny in it now was rebuilt 70,000 miles ago with a rebuilt converter. It shifts OK but suffers from "morning sickness" I have had it serviced regularly over the last 12 years. But pulling a heavy trailer takes its toll on a stock tranny & converter. Two years ago Bullhead Auto repair serviced it & told me that with the "morning sickness" they could buy me time with TransX & they did. But it is getting worse. I have noticed my mileage & power dropping. I use to get 6.5-7.5 MPG regularly & the last couple of times towing I have dropped to 5-5.5 MPG. Pulling hills I seem to of lost power.
Bill, what do you mean by taking "it easy" & not "pushing it"? Are you refering to the rebuild or driving? I never push it driving. I love the fact that this C-6 when put in second gear will not shift out PERIOD. Because second gear is a great pulling gear & without having to worry about it shifting into first it just pulls. I have pulled our trailer (about 10,000#) up Copper Canyon on I-17 from Camp Verde to the top & topped the hill at 32 MPH in second gear. That isn't bad for a 460 with a 180,000 miles.
I guess i was thinking you need to break in a tranny like you do an engine, Craig.
at least that's what I was told...
Happy Super Sunday!! i kinda hope the Colts win.
my tranny builder wants them broken in, he builds them very tight, the clearances on the bushings are at the minimum so he wants them run at least 100 miles with out towing and shifting a lot.
