I have a 71 F 100 truck. It has a 302 in it now. I found a 351C and trans out of aa 70 or 71 cougar. Will there be any problems to swap them out? Will I have to do much conversion? Thank you.
There is no problem. You need the following, the yoke from the auto, a welding shop that shortens drive shafts, and a Ford truck oil pan and engine mounts for that Year truck and engine. Good luck.
John's absolutely right. The Cleveland is a wonderful motor but Ford only made it for a few years so parts for it are getting somewhat hard to find. The 302 is a great motor and you can get anything you want for it.
If you want a 351 then go for the 351W or a 351/400M. The 351W is just the 302's big brother and you can get anything you want for it. The 400M is a sweethart of a motor and it gives you amazing torque, just what a truck needs.
If you can get the 351C and its trans for cheap then go ahead. Just make sure it runs well or you might as well rebuild it before you install it. By the way, does it have 4-bbl Cleveland Heads? If it does then buy it because the heads are worth $500 to $800 or more for the pair.
