engine problem's, i'm baffled on this 5.4.. please help.
this is what i did, drained the system and flushed it twice to get all the anti-freeze out. replaced the t-that and put the gaket repair in with strait water folowing the instruction's as not to screw it up.. i started it and ran it for the perscribed time and it never made heat, finaly the gauge started to climb slowly to almost the top but it never made heat, the rasdiater hose never got hot and the heater hoses never got hot. however it did blow a **** load of water out from under the cap again.. anyone ever had this exact problem, i'm stumped. i figure it could be a leaking had gaket, but why no heat??
Sounds more like the water is not circulating. Plugged system, bad pump. Fill the rad. but just hi enuf so you can see the flow tubes at the top.Leave the cap off and run the truck,After it warm up enuf you should be able to see if the pump is working because you will see the water flowing in the radiator
If you have water blowing out the cap it could be bad.Or it is boiling over because there is no cooling of the engine
I have seen radiators that were plugged in their lower quarter such that no coolant of any reasonable volume could flow and the block overheats.
The thrermostat is located down low in the lower hose.
Take the system apart and check flow and replace the thermostat.
Open the drain valve first. If very little come comes out with the fill cap off, the radiator is plugged.
If a head gasket were blown, I doubt it would result in a cold heater up until the time the coolant is blown too low to circuiate and causes high pressures.
