Hi
I have a 77 F150 4x4 4 speed. Has a 351 M engine. It has been sitting for a while and now will not start. Has fuel to the carb. Checked for spark at the distributor and it fires real hot when you turn the key on and will fire again when you turn the key off. Have a second ignition module, put that in, and it does the same thing.
Doesn't seem to fire at all when just cranking the engine over, but when I let off the key it will fire once.
Anyone have any suggestions on where to start?
There are two small wires on the starter solenoid. One is the "Start" signal, 12 volts when in the start position to engage the solenoid. The other sends 12 volts to the coil to ensure a good hot spark during cranking. I'd check that to make sure it is hooked up and getting 12 volts during cranking.
The problem was actually in the wiring to the ecm module. Mice had chewed on two places and about 4 inches was gone. Fixed that and it fired right up. Thanks for all the help.
