I have a '77 f350 with the 460. When I turn the key, the engine cranks but won't fire until I let go of the key. If I hold the key in the start position, the engine just cranks, but no fire until I let go - and then sometimes no fire. I replaced the ignition switch when the old one would randomly shut off the truck so I assumed it just needed adjustment, but It seems no matter where it is, the new problem persists. Perhaps it is the ignition solenoid or a weak starter, but I thought I would ask for advice before spending money on parts.
As always, thank you for your assistance.
