More info, I have a 72 F100 Sport Custom with original factory a/c. The mfg on a/c unit is Fred Jones. Does anyone know if they are still in business making these units or can they rebuild the compressor? Or is there a quick swap substitute out there?
The factory a/c on my '72 F100 has just a regular looking compressor. Any York or Tecumseh Ford type compressor should work, only the fittings differ: Roto-Loc vs Tube and "o" ring. You can even convert to a rotary type compressor, an a/c shop could help with this.
yes, im sure that they are in buisness, probably have a web site. i will bet that they can swap for your core no problem. give them a try. im sure you could call information in ok-city and get their number.
As far as I know, Fed Jones is still in business.
They are in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Fed Jones has a very large dealership as well as
a remanufacturing facility in OKC.
I have bought a couple of remanufactured engines
from there in the past.
I may be wrong but, I think it is on Reno Ave.
Good Luck!
Fred Jones is still in business, however the component parts remanufacturing has been discontinued with the exception of carbs and window lift motors. Engines, transmissions and transaxles are the mainstay these days. If the compressor is a stock model, take it to Autozone for a replacement.
