Check out tirerack.com They have tons of user reviews and even test some tires themselves. I discount the reviews people put up after only a few miles, I look for people with at least 1K miles.

I installed some Toyo 285/75R16 on my Excursion. They were the only ones I could find that were rated to my vehicle weight. 'E' rated. I love em. Winter tires are the only way to go. Cannot remember the model name, but that would be easy to find on the net.
