EGR NIGHTMARE!!!

I have a 2001 Mountaineer. It started throwing a code of insufficient EGR flow and after asking around I replaced the DPFE Sensor. Problem solved for about a thousand miles, then the same code reappeared. I checked for clogged intake and exhaust ports in the EGR System and they were clear, so I changed the EGR valve about 500 miles ago. Now the check engine light is back on with a code of excessive egr flow. Any ideas?

Did you use an OEM EGR valve and sensor? Have you replaced the vacuum lines?

My EGR and Sensor came from Advance, and the vacuum lines looked fine so I did not replace them.

K, go get dealer parts and try this again. The cheap aftermarket parts are nowhere near the quality of a genuine Ford part. The aftermarket stuff is in about the same condition new as a broken dealer part.

I've gone through two DPFE sensors from Advance until I learned my lesson. I have a nagging suspicion that they're made by the same manufacturer but the aftermarket ones are the ones which may have been sorted out due to performance being close to one of the tolerance limits.
