There are very dlight differences between the '48- 50 model, I don't remember exactly what they are. One I think is the wing window divider, in '50 I think they use stainless ones. On '48s the grills had red pin striping. Don't quote me on these, it's been a while since I checked on this. I don't really care, they are all beauty to me!
Well, based on a couple of inputs (the LMC catalogue and my book "Ford F-Series Pick-up Trucks 1948-1956" by Don Bunn) the huge difference between the 48 and 49 was on the 49 model, they deleted the red pinstripes on the grille bars and the wheels were now painted body color instead of black. Very subtly, the tailgate was reinforced with a tapered truss type rolled edge and the top edge was slightly thicker at the center.
The difference between 1949 and 1950 was that the 3 speed shift was relocated to the column. And according to Mr. Bunn 1950 was the first year the 254 6 cylinder engine was available on the F6. And despite debate from members of the forum, the 1948-1952 Ford Chassis Parts Catalogue supports this.
