Yes, disc front brakes. Pedal is soft and EXTREMELY low, goes within 1/2" of floor before all of a sudden the brakes come on with reckless abandon throwing all contents of the cab into the floor. The rears do not seem to come on at all, there is no 'slow down' only full froce, nose down braking. Sorta like riding a bike with hand brakes for the first time. Last time I took it in for adjustment they adjusted the rod going to the booster and bled the system several times with no significant improvement. I think the shop is just too familiar with newer systems and really does not want to worry with a 20 year old truck. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Andy you don't need to start another thread until your first problem is solved. You cannot be helped if you are jumping all around. Don't add any more to this thread.

John:

I'm not sure if your prohibition to Andy applied to me, but I thought I would share a thought with you anyway on this "problem solving thing." I generally think its over-rated. My son recently suggested I might make progress by trying to actually finishing one of my "projects" before I start another. I will concede that that is a noble goal but I am going for the dramatic effect when everything comes together all at once. Besides John...it may not be practical to train in life as a juggler but it sure makes things interesting

To try and help with the problem, Have you checked the springs in the rear breaks that might be why they arent working. It is a good possibility that you need new calipers for the front they seem to be grabbing, or it could be as easy as clogged break lines or a bad porporting valve.

Good Luck
