oh yeah, for sure.at least just run the c6 til she blows.its in and doesn't cost you anything.
could go for many years without issue, especially if you add a good cooler and swap her juice once in a while.
toss in a shift kit if you don't like the sluggish factory shifts.
great trans!(just dated these days, due to no OD,that's all.)
I wouldn't even worry about a shift kit in a plow truck, when your in low range there is no slushy feeling with a C6, Mash on it when you have traction you can definitely make parts scatter.
well, the T-19's my buddy had are all gone. seems he sold them with his truck just before winter
The C-6 I have is good, and should work fine for awhile. She does need the fluid changed and a cooler added though. I would have thought being an ex-city work truck it would have one already, which it may have had and they just kept it.
Thanx for the info though guys, I do appreciate it!
You have time then I would watch for a cheap dead truck with a ZF5 for a donor.
If you have room to store one I have always been able to buy a whole donor cheaper than buying and chasing the parts when I need something major.
If your truck is a standard cab and you find a supercab donor you will aslo have a bolt in D50 fore another upgrade. If you do much highway driving with todays speed limits a Zf5 will make you think you are driving a different truck and you may get a donor with 3.55 gears that are better on the highway too. Though I do like 4.10 gears myself.
