Stalling, Backfiring
1. My father-in-law and I just re-built the Holly 4160 (we believe) 4 barrel on top of my 360. It was hesitating on acceleration and damned near got me killed one day. We replaced the accelerator pump and adjusted the new one and that seemed to do the trick. We spent a great deal of time adjusting the float before it would run well. Now, sometimes when I go around a corner or up a hill, it wants to hesitate and when cold it backfires. What adustment should I make to stop the hesitation?
2. I also found out that I have a exhaust leak at the motor on one side. What's to fixing that? Does it need immediate attention? Can it be done by a amatuer?

I just had the same exact problem with my 76 F-100 360 2BBL. As a matter of fact I got it fixed today finally after checking everything possible and going through all kinds of pain and suffering. I took it to a good mechanic and he fixed it in 20 minutes. It was the timing was off plus the the idle speed needed adjusting. The combination of the two cuased it. Good luck-God bless
