Just got my build sheet in! The build date is 03/14/1984(happy b-day Blue Mule) and what supprized me was I should have T18 tranny, but a Np435 is in there. Must of been swapped out by the PO before I got it(2nd owner).
Also have the "Exterior Sound Reducing package" and Complete tinted glass package(not now as all windows have been replaced...) and had a 4050# ford axle(now Dana 60 semi floater)
I still have no idea what the Exterior Sound Reducing package is,there is nothing I can find that would reduce the outside sound anywhere in or on my cab.
It is a sort of fiberglass/cardboard mat on the firewall in the cab, and some black goop sprayed inside the doors. My truck has the same thing. Actually the only real "option" it came with. Manual brakes, steering, transmission, locks, and windows, vinyl bench seat, and rubber floor mat. Hell, according to the build sheet, it didn't even come with radials from the factory.
The build sheet does say that it came with a 351 HO, even though everything in the truck is original and matching to the ~75,000 mile 300/6 that is in it. (pretty damn sure it has never been re-powered)
I was wodering if the "sound" package was that dryed up crusty firewall pad(removed long time ago..)
Same here. That stupid firewall mat made the bottom of my firewall rust. Can't wait til I pull the cab, that sucker is comin out and i'm gonna make somethin better.
That's what I am doing right now, just pulled the dash and pedal assy out from the 84 cab. nothing but rust on the firewall where the mat was located. Also found a mouse nest behind the duct work with alot of the matting there! When the new cab is put on, dynamat will be there insted of that funky mat! Also I'm going to use POR-15 through out the inside of the cab and cowl areas. Hopefully I'll get another 26 years out of it!
