Today was the beginning of something great........
It started out as.....but i had already taken the bed off before this picture it was a complete truck
then went to......
and then came the big bad machines haha
and the muscle machine haha Custom cab/Mitch
Myself on the 6400 JD taking the cab off
My frame with Mitch's Highboy in the background
We started at my farm a little after 8am......Went to fire up the loader and found out it had a low tire......sooo we started off doing everything by hand.....bed front clip. carried them into an enclosed part of the barn for storage. Found out the cab was too heavy to lift.....and used the tractor anyway haha we finished and went to lunch just before 11am not bad for using hand tools, not breaking anything and the only power tool we had was a battery impact gun.
Loaded Frame on the dirty 92, i need to wash that truck and make it shiney again.
as it sits not in my garage. its up on jack stands....and i started wire brushing the frame with a borrowed grinder haha pulled the wiring harness out.
tomorrows goal is to drop the axles and engine tranny transfer combo.
i painted some of hte frame after that picture to have a goal to go towards.
plan with the truck is a 4" lift 35" tires.....paint it either highland green or a dark smoke grey.....leather interior.....it will be nice.
That's where I'm lucky to have a big garage to work in ha what are you building?
same thing as you it would appear. 78 f150 4x4. except mine has a 400 and c6.
bought a 77 with good sheet metal that i am eager to swap out. going to paint the frame and whatnot when i do it. the parts truck is stripped but i use my 78 on snow days. so i'm waiting for the weather to get better.
here is a pic of my truck
and the parts truck

Reason: add pic
that parts truck has a really really good body on it dang......mines pretty much rust and dent free. a few little spots here and there but nothing bad.
sounds like a good project man. i may put a 460 in mine.....if i can swap my dads friend. if not i can live with the 300.
today i pulled the engine, tranny, tcase. dropped the rear end, all i need to do is roll it out from under the truck and did some more wire brushing on the frame......put the new door on my brothers 2000 F150, and ran a bunch of erronds around town.
tmrw will be front end out, steering box, and tranny crossmember. then i'll scrape the inside of the frame and find a set of F150 4x4 rear springs for it, it has F100 2wd springs under it now, and there alot narrower then the 4x4 ones......an that wont work for me.
