we just swaped beds and a bumper from an '10 to a '02 and it was a direct swap everything bolted/plugged in correctly. the new truck got a service body and the old truck got the new trucks bed.
I don't mean to hijack your thread but how do you remove the bed...thats a project for me this summer. Other then the bed bolts what else should I look for? Gas nozzle etc.. how much do you guys think a 6ft box weights?
i take them off almost daily. i take the bumper off, one wire connection for the plate lights then 4 bolts. then the gas spout which is 3 7mm bolts and push it down. then the bed bolts and your wire harness connection for the tail/rev lights then just lift it off. they dont weigh that much an 8ft box 4 guys can pickup. we use an overhead crain but have had to life them up to move them a few inches..ect
The bed bolts have a different Torx head. It is a TP45 (Torx Plus). Torx Plus sockets are available on the internet and from some of the professional tool sellers.
