Building an engine

Ok, Im gonna have to rebuild my engine withing the next 10000 miles. I have a 351M in a 77 F 150 4x4 so I am going to add some perfomance goodies. An edelbrock 750 cfm electric choke carb, an edelbrock perfomer aluminum intake, and an edelbrock cam kit. The cam has a lift of .484 int. and .510 exh. The duration is 204 int and 214 exh. My question is does anybody know if this combination will allow the engine to get to 6000RPM. What kind of low end torque will I have for climbing. And I know this will combo will have a bunch of power. All comments are welcome.

FM, The Edelbrock site has a tourque range page for it's cams. Unless you are going to race the truck, I think a #1406 600 cfm carb would be plenty, and you should never turn the truck over 4500 max, because it is out of it's power range by then. You should stop at 4000 rpms. You can find at the site where the max power range is, and when you reach it shift. Once in high gear, let your life be your guide, as to how many rpms to turn it.

One thing - NEW VALVE SPRINGS! It's my understanding that stock valve springs on these heads run into problems at about .500 lift. Anyway, new springs to match your cam are cheap insurance compared to bent pushrods and oil failures from Binding Springs.

Been there done that!

Also, look into oil system mods if your going to routinely spin it that fast (6k rpm).
