I know you probably have been asked this question before but here it is again. I have just ordered some headers for my 78 f-150 with a 302. Has anyone had any problems with there headers, and do they have any suggestion for when i install them. can you notice and difference in power?.
Hey, there! Headers a pretty much a straight forward bolt-on item. You really should not have that much problems with installation. From previous experience, the only thing you might run into, is that the passenger side may be a tight fit, and you may need to unbolt the engine from the mounts to lift it a bit to pass the headers through, and remove the starter. Other suggestions on my mind, is to be sure to use anti-seize on all of the bolts during installation, and after the first fire up I usually run the motor for about 10-15 minutes, let it cool re-torque again. It's a good idea to check torque every once in a while. If its in your budget, you might consider picking up a set of stage-8 header bolts. I have these on my Explorer holding down the stainless headers, they are great...torque the nuts to specs at installation. Then thats it...no need to worry. The hardest part is installing the special lock washers!

I once installed a set of Headman Headers into my 73 F100 w a 302. Everything went in well, no interfearance etc. Only problem I had was couldn't get the started out w/o loosening the headers. It was close but no cigar!
It's been a long time so I cant say about a power increase, but I did pick up some MPG's also (or was it the Holley Carb & Dominator Intake, Cam, & 10:1 Pistons? I dont know).
Anyway, almost guarenteeded to be better than cast manifolds!
