It seems that after it rains I have water in the engine valley. Anyone else ever have this problem? I felt around the rest of the engine and everything else seems to be dry. I have no idea how its getting in there.
Probably the seal between the cowl below the windshield and the hood is leaking. Check it to see if it is ripped or cracked from age. Also, the drain points for the cowl could be plugged causing the water to collect to a high level and then drain onto the engine. Just a couple things to check. Hope you find it easily. Might have to use a garden hose to "make it rain" when you have time to check it.
driving often doesn't help much when you live in the woods. Even our cars driven daily have droppings and food debris on top covers or manifolds. We used to have up to 5 cats. That is why rats hide from the views. Than we have seen few huge rats that were not scared of cats and walked the law and daylight. Our German Shepard got couple of them even the old dog was pretty slow.
I just worked on Powerstroke turbo today. There is drainage hole on the back on passenger side. Fact that center valley has few low ribs definitely is not making for easy drainage.
Mine is early 99 model.
