I posted this in the audio forum, but I didn't get a response. I replaced the head unit of our 2001 EB Expedition. The stock setup had a cd changer that I want to remove now. Has anyone done this? In looking at the console it appears that I just need to remove all the plastic trim inside the console to get to the changer. I was just wondering if anyone else had removed their changer so they could clue me in to any potential booby-traps. Also, Once this unit comes out I will be placing the head unit and changer for sale if anyone is interested. This came out of an EB Expedition and had rear audio controls.
I'm gonna be yanking my 6 disc at some point this summer and replacing it with the new MP3/hardrive's that are out now. $399
for a 20gig drive unit (they have up to 80gig). Thats plenty of music.
This unit does play CD-R's. I am pulling the changer out because I upgraded our stock deck to a pioneer premeir unit. So that rendered the changer useless. Shoot me an email at cbarker51@cableone.net and let's talk about the changer.
I figure that you've already yanked your cd changer out, but it's an easy thing to do. All you have to do is remove the two bolts at the top and the two bolts at the bottom and the whole thing lifts out. I took mine out last week - it took about five minutes.
