That's a pretty common place for a leak. Make sure you have 2 locking tabs on the drier as they do get broken off if the have been handled roughly in the past.

Thanks...I didn't notice if it had two tabs but I swapped the oring for a new one and put everything back together, sprayed it down with soapy water and no bubbles so I think the leak is fixed. Problem is that it is so loud and vibrates like crazy...here is a vid I took of it today
Get a set of new rubber mounts from Eddie at American Air Suspension and the noise will be gone. And you will then be an expert at removing and re-installing the compressor.
Well, that bubling is certainly bad. But as noted -- often compressors are going sound when the get loud. But it might be just the rubber insulating grommets...
My front bags were leaking down slowly and the shocks were shot on all four corners. When I priced out all the parts for my 04 (same as yours), I realized that it was going to be cheaper to go to coils.
I have the shop manual for my 04. About 100 pages of diagnostic algorythms for the air suspension, much of which requires Fords own diagnotic tool (not just a code reader). The Ford tool allows the dealer to individually let down the air in a corner to check the solenoid (4 of them). etc etc....
I just decided that the LSS was not worth the trouble...
FWIW -- I bought a dryer and remanufactured pump from americanair about 6 weeks before the slow airbag leak started up front. Nice looking unit and much quieter, and ran less. So the original was likely dying (I replaced my compressor becuase it was loud and running a long time).
But as other posters note, it MIGHT just be the grommets, plus the leak you have already discovered.

I inspected the rubber mounts and they seem to be in good shape, thats why I'm leaning toward the fact that the compressor is dying. If I hold on the compressor while its running the sound doesn't change...it just doesn't vibrate as much.

Do you think the leak from the dryer is enough to cause the compressor to run way more that normal and ultimately causing compressor failure? Or does it need to be a larger leak?
I'm leaning toward getting the compressor/dryer from american air, I just hope the dryer leak was my only leak so I don't burn up that compressor too.
Certainly just about any leak can cause the compressor to run. Bear in mind, this is a small volume, high pressure pump. Its not made to pump lots of air, as it usually does not have lots of demands, just a little adjustment here and there.
Mine made a lot of noise with what looked like good mounts, I replaced them with new ones and now I cannot hear it running unless I'm standing right next to it or the hood is up.

This is worth a shot, but I can find the isolators on the American Suspension website??
I second American air suspension. Just dealt with him for my new compressor, dryer, rear bags and a spider jr. His service is incredible and can't be beat.
I am sure I saw them on his site but you can always just call him at;

Thanks guys! I will give him a call and get some ordered. I guess it won't hurt to ask his opinion on the loudness?? I thought I read somewhere that he is also a member??
