Normal spring gap?

Is the amount of gap between my front springs normal? I would think there wouldn't be any gap but I guess a little won't hurt, this seems to be a little much though. It's the front half of the springs between the axle and the front spring bushing, the left one is worse than the right and the back half of the springs seem to have no gap at all.

Yeah I know the underside looks terrible; it's been raining here for two weeks.

looks about right..you dont want to ride on both springs when empty..it will be a rough ride..when you load up the truck that gap will close up and the second spring will help hold the weight....

Oh ok, I thought that would be the case for the rear springs but didn't think it would be like that up front. Thanks

that is why a 5th wheel or goose neck trailers pull so good..it puts some of the weight on the front axels..not take it off the front and add it all to the rear like a bumper hitch does..
