Valves

I know some 7.3 engines have upgraded valves.
Does all 7.3 have the better valves or just the factory turbo valves.

And the same question about the oil coolers.

Anybody know, I don't want to keep this block but do want to keep anything that will upgrade a 6.9.

Turbo exhaust valves were inconnel.

Stock 7.3 NA valves the same as the 6.9 valves as far as metal composition.

What I have shows the oil cooler bundle upgraded for the turbo, 30 fins/in vs 24 fins/in for the NA.

Basic changes between the 7.3 NA IDI and 7.3 turbo.

NA has 1" wrist pins
Turbo has 1.3125" wrist pins

The NA oil cooler 24 fins per inch
Turbo oil cooler 30 fins per inch

Turbo pistons were anodized on the crown.

Valves already covered.

You could use all the turbo parts on a NA 7.3, if you could find the connecting rods.

In a 6.9 you can use the 7.3 turbo oil cooler and exhaust valves.
Also the 7.3 style rockers is another 6.9 upgrade.

After running my engine, the turbo wrist pins are just more rotating weight.
And if you watch the pyrometer, the anodized pistons are not needed, they would just add more cost.

Ford probably used them since pyrometers were not stock equipment, that helped protect the pistons with the mild boost pressures and fuel settings that the stock turbo engines used.
