Ignition Coil

Okay, stupid question but where is the ignition coil located on an 85 f150 with a 300 6 and EEC IV? Maybe I'm blind but I can't find it for the life of me. Possibly because I've never done anything with the ignition before...

It's been about 7 years since I've owned one, but I'm pretty sure the coil is right in front of the distributor on the driver's side of the engine....trace the center wire in the distributor to the other end.

just follow the wire from the centre of the distributor cap and that will lead to the coil.

No question is stupid except for the unasked one.

Look just above and to the left of the distributor. It is attached to the engine. It is rectangular in shape.

Ok, new related question. I went to connect a tach to the coil today but when I would connect it my truck wouldn't start. I connected the red and white wires to the stereo wires, connected green to the coil, and grounded the black one. It lights up and when I turn the key the needle bounces but it won't do me any good if I can't drive anywhere haha. The negative side of the coil is the one that goes to the distributor, correct? Is there anywhere else I could hook up the green wire?

Nevermind, I figured it out. Connected it to the wrong side of the coil.
