Not nocking the oil, just don't run it for 20K like the advertisement says - the ICP of 3,000+ psi shears the oil over time. Me personally, I would not run an oil in a 7.3L over 5K without doing a used oil analysis and getting some historical results so you know for sure what is going on.
That is excellent advise. In the interest of full disclosure, I am an Amsoil dealer, but I do not always trust the advertised claims. That is why I do UOA at an independant lab.

Good advice, Rich. Like you've said, I went my first run with the 9000 series, like you already know, for 13K miles. I've slowly crept up to where I am based on the good results I'm seeing. I have to also add that I am not pushing my truck at all and I virtually never tow anything (except my own big self). Furthermore, just in the past week I've discovered some things that are making me suspect that my HPOP is getting a little tired and may not be working as hard as it could be, which could easily be part of why my oil is doing well at the higher mileage runs between changes.
