I am still trying to figure out why I have no power on my trailer plug for the trailer battery charger. I changed out the fuse and there is power on it. I also ohmed out the wire and it seems ok. My only other guess is that the relay is bad. I saw a wiring diagram a while back that showed a a relay in between the fuse and the wire that runs it back to the plug, but can't find it again. Does anyone know the # and location?
I will be watching this thread with interest to see what i can learn about the same issue I`m having with my charge circuit. If you have two black boxes next to the under hood fuse panel like my e99 the one closest to the firewall I think cotains the relays for the charging circuit the other contains reverse light relays. Putting in new relays did not activate the 1 oclock black battery charge prong on my plug so I must have other wiring issues. Hope this helps, Dan
Well I did a thread search using different wording than I used in the past and got my answer. The charging relay is #39 and is powered by one of the maxi fuses (#14 or 16, can't remember without looking in my manual). This circuit only works when the truck in On.
so what is your next option to get juice to the charging plug if all fuses and relays check out? All my other trailer plug wires work fine. I would guess on mine its a chafed wire along the run somewhere.

There is a connector in the driverside wheel well. Disconnect it there and check to see if there is power. If so, the wire is bad somewhere along the way. Either find and fix the problem or string a new wire and splice it in. Don't forget to make sure your fuse is good and the truck is running.
