Hello, this question is for 5 Star and I'm posting it here because I thought others with my config would be interested in the answer. If this is not the place for this please excuse or move as need be. You seem to be the authority in custom tunes for our trucks as noted on this site by the many testimonials. I am interested in getting a tune in the future but I noticed on your web site that over half of the details that you tune are for a automatic transmission. My question is would a custom tune for my manual transmission V10 F250 be cheaper since you don't have to configure any auto transmission components in the tune? Thank you for your time.
Hi Skeeter363
Good question. Pricing is currently discounted for FTE members be it an auto or manual transmission does not matter. Each device holds up to 3 tunes. More price reductions can be had by reducing the amount of tunes on the device be it auto / manual. A good example if someone with an RV w. V10 , they generally need just one tune developed.

I have an '08 F350 V10 FX4 4x4 ... I have questions but dont want to repeat what others may have already asked. Can you point me in the right direction to research the following:
Assuming that I take your advice and buy the best or most popular set-up for my rig
- gains at the wheels
- gains at the pump
- price tag range (rough) $500-$750, $750-$1000, $1000+
- Additional mods necessary/recommended
He brought up something that I have been pondering. I will be in the market for a tune for my '03 V10 manual. You list three different settings for 87 octane: Economy, Towing, Performance.
As a manual owner, are there actually Fuel and Ignition Table differences between these three setups (especially the Tow and Performance). Or are the changes in the tunes mostly related to the automatic transmission adjustments. I don't want to by two tunes that are exactly the same for my manual truck... not that you would let that happen.
Howdy John
There are some differences but for the most part Tow and Performance tune would be about same for a manual. The economy tune is different for the manual.
Keep in mind when developing tunes any combination can be had, just depends on what you want. "The Customer”. We try to get all the info about how one uses their truck, what they tow & weight, mileage on truck, terrain, ect... This focus is to have a complete calibration not just a tune.
Please use these as guides for selecting a tune. Examples (not set in stone) of tunes that may be had for 2v/3v V10’s be it auto / manual vehicle. Again depends on you as the customer but these represent 98% for most needs.
Can you (5Star) do custom tuning for removing certain programs? I'm in the process of putting a 05 2V V10 into a 89 F150 and won't need ABS or airbags. I'm hoping not to have those light flashing the whole time I use the truck. I haven't even got close to that point yet, but when I do it will nice to know my options.....Thanks Woody

Hi itsnotanova
Sorry but we can not alter anything with ABS or Airbag systems via a PCM flash.
just noticed over on your site that the max is 8000 lbs? are you saying that there is not a tune for any weight over that amount?

as far as i know the 2005's came with a three valve mine does anyways you may want to check on that?
The excursion retained the 2V V10 until 2005 MY and the E-Series kept the 2V V10 until 2010, not shure if they are switching over to the 6.2l in 2011. So what I'm saying is a 2005 MY 2V V10s are out there.

Thanks Mike. I have one more question for you though. What horse power/torque increase could we expect with the 87-93 octane settings on the 2v and 3v's. with no mods? I'm not going to hold you to what you say..just a guestamate of what I could expect if I went with a 87 or 91 or whatever octane.....Thanks
